Orlando Daily: Early Voting Surge and Turnout

More than 500,000 voters in Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties have already cast ballots early or by mail. Supervisor websites posted those totals and officials say they are prepared to respond to outages or long lines on Election Day. Turning to Orange County turnout, about 40 percent of voters had cast ballots before Election Day. Florida Politics reports Democrats returned more than 157,000 ballots versus about 86,000 for Republicans. Also in Orange County, almost half of registered voters cast their ballots early. Officials say those early rates surpass recent midterm cycles and add pressure to polling operations. Also, the Orange County Supervisor of Elections posted a snapshot showing 830,136 registered active voters. It says polls open today at 7 in the morning.
